AEC were proactive and found solutions which I can't speak highly enough about. From the receptionist, the vet tech and the head vet, Dr Haas, we were treated with the best care I have seen at a vets.
I feel like a lot of the poor reviews on Google are due to money. I don't particularly like spending $1500 on treatment but it made her comfortable, pain free and I can't thank AEC enough for caring for our dog, who was in absolute agony for nearly two weeks with a neck injury. Unfortunately that level of care costs some, but balancing out the meds, care from all staff and the fact we had them run a CT scan, I do not think it was overpriced.
It’s not just that I am upset to have to put my dog down, it was the way the vet behaved the lack of compassion on the part of the entire staff was truly beyond words. They only cared about payment and not getting our dog treated right away.
I TOOK MY PREGNANT DOG THERE BC SHE WAS HAVING TROUBLE GIVING BIRTH. WE GOT THERE AT 1PM THEY TOOK HER BACK FOR A SONAGRAM AND BLOOD TEST AT 2:30pm SAID THEY WOULD BE OUT IN A COUPLE MINS TO GET HER AND TAKE HER BACK. WE SAT THERE TIL 6PM!!!!!!! I FINALLY FOUND OTHER VET THAT WOULD TAKE HER RIGHT AWAY BC OF HER LIFE BEING IN DANGER. THE VET SAID IF WE WOULD'VE WAITED ANOTHER 10 MINS MY DOG WOULDVE DIED!! SHE WAS IN DISTRESSED AND HER CALCIUM WAS VERY LOW! ALL THE PUPPIES DIED THEY REVIVED 2 OF THEM BUT THE 3RD ONE DIDNT MAKE IT! I WILL NEVER TAKE MY ANIMALS THERE AGAIN FOR ALMOST LETTING MY DOG DIE AND LETTING HER SIT THERE FOR 6 HOURS NOT TELLING US ANYTHING! NOT TO MENTION IT COST $400 JUST FOR THOSE 2 TEST AND THEN GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE SAYING IT WOULD BE $1,000 FOR THE C-SECTION THAT SHE NEEDED... WHEN THE OTHER VET TOLD US IT WOULD BE AROUND $5000 BC THE PUPPY DYING INSIDE HER AND HAD TO CLEAN THE BOWEL MOVEMENT OUT OF HER PLUS AROUND THE CLOCK CARE FOR THE PUPPIES!!! THEYRE BY FAR THE WORST VETERINARIAN IVE EVER BEEN TOO, IF THATS WHAT YOU WANNA EVEN CALL THEM!! THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEYRE DOING!!
Still could have been same outcome, but could have been handled so much better. We had to put another dog down many many years ago but that Hershey vet was so compassionate and had procedures to bring us into a room where they could put the dog on the table and let us hold the dog while they administered the sedative. This vet had our dog in an oxygen chamber and wouldn’t take him out so our boys could say goodbye-the worst experience ever and on top of it I had to pay 1100.00 -I hope they change their practices for families to be better able to say goodbye.
Edit to add: Thanks to this wonderful vet office my cat is doing well. They even called to see how he was. Everyone seemed to love him there
Brought my cat in after a dog attacked him- dislocating his jaw. They were amazing. Kind. Took him in right away and gave pain meds. Called me like I asked to let me know how he was as we had to leave him over night instead0 of waiting for morning. Great group of people... Thank you for caring about my cat and even me by letting me know he was ok.
Yes, it was expensive (we ran a CT scan which is expensive in itself) and they kept our dog overnight, administering meds and keeping her happy and pain free which we could not do given the lack of potent meds our previous vet had given us (weak oral painkillers).
Just like every other place whether restaurant or a business it takes money to pay the good people who work here. The reviews are horrid... This place is amazingly good with animals.
I can't thank them enough. She's still receiving treatment at a specialist center in State College, so we still don't know how she'll do and whether surgery is necessary, but from A-Z, the treatment we received at AEC was outstanding and I highly recommend you visit if your pet needs treatment.
Our poor dog would randomly experience an excruciating spasm in her neck, scream and whimper in pain, and the previous vet did nothing to diagnose, treat or help.
In addition, the detail they went through in their medical report was astounding and their notes helped us see clearly what was done at each stage and that our dog was regularly being checked on and cared for to the best level possible.
1100.00 later and exactly 4hr and 6 min I feel like I was robbed and still had to put down my dog.
We visited AEC yesterday after 11 days, four visits and four different drug treatment programs for our little dog's neck injury at another vet. AEC saw her and within 10 minutes rushed her to get intravenous meds to make her comfortable, which is all we cared about and what we asked the previous vet to do, without any satisfaction.
The staff was friendly and informative. They ran tests and kept our puppy overnight. The rates were reasonable and puppy is good as new! They also followed up with our regular vet to let them know of the visit.
